Pervalka (former Perwelk)

Some of the former residents of Naujieji Nagliai village that was buried with sand moved to the new place and between 1836 and 1843. The new settlement was called Pervalka. About 45 people lived in 5 farmsteads in 1847. After the sand started attacking them again in 1880 - 1881, they moved to the new place about 1,5-km north. Pervalka citizens were mostly fishermen.

Slowly their number increased: 59 residents were recorded in 1871, 92 - in 1895 and 1897, 110 - in 1905, 125 - in 1923 and 176 permanent residents in 1939. Pervalka school was established in 1900.

In the thirties or forties of the 20th century, single vacationers who where looking for escape from the noisy resorts found Pervalka, which very quiet even today.

It is the smallest settlement in the Northern Curonian Spit - only 37 permanent residents live here.
